January 2026 Tax Deadlines for Businesses

As January 2026 approaches, businesses, employers, farmers, and fishermen should prepare for essential tax deadlines. Proactive planning is crucial to ensure compliance and steer clear of penalties.

January 15 - Employer’s Monthly Deposit Obligation

If you’re an employer under the monthly deposit regulations, make your deposits for Social Security, Medicare, and withheld income tax for December 2025 by January 15. Employers with under $2,500 in liability may opt for quarterly or annual payments. Remember to use electronic channels for employment tax deposits, as paper payment coupons are not accepted. Image 2

January 15 - Estimated Tax for Farmers and Fishermen

Submit your estimated tax for 2025 using Form 1040-ES. If you miss this payment, you must file your 2025 tax return and settle any dues by March 2, 2026, to avoid penalties. You may still have until April 15 to file your return (Form 1040 or 1040-SR). Image 3

Adjustments for Weekends & Holidays

Due dates falling on Saturdays, Sundays, or legal holidays are automatically extended to the next business day that is not a holiday.
